SU JEONG BAEK

Born in 1970, Seoul, Korea. She obtained a bachelor's degree in metalwork from Hongik University and a master's degree from the same graduate school. While attending graduate school, She was impressed with the process of processing tough ramie grass into handmade hemp. A study on expressing silver as a soft cloth texture and a traditional Korean gold-overay technique in which gold is applied by heating without soldering gold to a texture expression such as crumpled paper were studied. Both techniques are important expressions in my jewelry making.

After graduation, She worked as a freelance precious metal designer at Korean precious metal design companies such as Golden Dew and Iberette, and for 3 years taught metal crafts and design classes to students at university. She is designing jewelry with the theme of regeneration of time and memory using silver and gemstones. It is engaged in solo and group exhibitions mainly in galleries, domestic and international craft fairs, and department stores.

From 2004 to 2013, She ran a jewelry store in Seoul, South Korea, and from 2016 to 2020 in Suwon, South Korea, She runs a studio, Clecel, which teaches jewelry making and fine silver clay crafts.
